    Controller Browser Update Cadence Test

Move a stick continuously while the page records valid Gamepad timestamp changes for five seconds and reports median/P95 intervals plus observed Hz.

This browser does not expose the Gamepad API.

    Keep moving throughout the window.

    How this test works

    1. 1Select the controller and keep this tab visible.
    2. 2Start measurement.
    3. 3Move a stick continuously for five seconds.
    4. 4Review accepted/rejected sample quality and the limitation notice.

    Result interpretation

Observed Hz is 1000 divided by the median accepted timestamp interval. At least 30 deltas and no more than 20% rejected candidates are required.

    • Not USB/Bluetooth polling rate.
    • Not end-to-end input latency.
    • Display refresh, RAF, browser, OS and timestamp behavior affect results.

    Troubleshooting

    01Keep moving throughout the window.
    02Do not background the tab.
03If timestamp never changes, use input tests instead of treating zero as a result.

    Frequently asked questions

Is this my controller's real polling rate?

No. It is only the cadence the browser exposes to this page.

    Can it measure latency?

No. End-to-end latency needs controlled hardware and display measurement.
